Dorothy Dubrule is a native of Boston, Massachusetts, and began her dance training at age five at Boston Ballet. After taking a break from ballet to pursue academics, spiked hair, and facial piercings, she returned to dance while attending New College of Florida. Once there she oversaw a student-run dance department, interned and performed with a Florida-based contemporary company, Fuzion Dance Artists, choreographed 9 original works, collaborated with experimental musicians and filmmakers, lectured on dance theory, and created a tutorial on dance for camera. During breaks from school she attended workshops with the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company, as well as with various artists at Dance New Amsterdam in New York City. In 2009 she received her BA, graduating with a triple major in Literature, Philosophy, and Performance Studies. She was the first in the school’s history to graduate with a “Performance Studies” major, paving the way for future students interested in dance. In Philadelphia, Dorothy choreographs for and performs with Club Lyfestile, a local unitard dance team, and is the primary choreographer for Body Dreamz, a new school fly girl crew. She is very grateful to have the opportunity to work with and learn from the artists at readySetGO as an administrative assistant!
