Joshua James is a Philadelphia based multimedia artist and technician with a background in digital media, music, and three-dimensional design. He is a 2005 graduate of Stevenson University in Baltimore, where he studied film. He began performing and recording music as a percussionist at age 16, and has been composing and engineering experimental music since 2002, and has produced a number of solo recordings and musical scores, as well as two short films.
After launching his first public multimedia gallery installation, Optical Romance in 2005, Josh's work has led to involvement with an eclectic lineup of artists and organizations, ranging from documentary film to dance. Among these are media design and production names such as Disney, Klip Collective, Gyro, The Film Foundry, and Pier Nicola D'Amico, as well as dance and performance artists and companies such as SCRAP/Myra Bazell, Daniele Strawmyre/readySetGo, Kate Watson-Wallace/Anonymous Bodies, Pig Iron Theatre Co, Jean Ruddy, and a constantly growing host of others. He has also been involved with the Philadelphia Live Arts Festival since 2005, both as a technician and a designer.
